NRA-Linked Russia Central Banker Retires

Alexander Torshin, whose assistant is closing in on a plea deal with U.S. prosecutors after being charged with acting as a Kremlin agent in Washington, is leaving his position as deputy governor of Russia’s central bank.

Torshin retired, the Russian regulator said in a statement Friday. He turned 65 Tuesday. The announcement came after the U.S. government said this week that prosecutors are optimistic about reaching a deal with Maria Butina, a gun-rights activist currently jailed for failing to register as a Russian agent. Russian officials call her a “political prisoner.”

Sheryl Sandberg Is Said to Have Asked Facebook Staff to Research George Soros

‘Sheryl Sandberg asked Facebook’s communications staff to research George Soros’s financial interests in the wake of his high-profile attacks on tech companies, according to three people with knowledge of her request, indicating that Facebook’s second in command was directly involved in the social network’s response to the liberal billionaire.’

Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer, pleads guilty to lying to Congress

BREAKING: In a nine-page filing, prosecutors laid out a litany of lies that Cohen admitted he told to congressional lawmakers about the Moscow project — an attempt, Cohen said, to minimize links between the proposed development and Trump as his presidential bid was taking off.

Cohen falsely said efforts to build a Trump-branded tower in Moscow ended in January 2016, when in fact discussions continued through that year, the filing said. Among the people Cohen briefed on the status of the project was Trump himself, on more than three occasions, according to the document.

How a future Trump Cabinet member gave a serial sex abuser the deal of a lifetime

Incredible story. What a monster.

The Miami Herald “identified about 80 women who say they were molested or otherwise sexually abused by [Jeffrey] Epstein from 2001 to 2006.”

A stunning and damning report –

‘Facing a 53-page federal indictment, Epstein could have ended up in federal prison for the rest of his life.

But on the morning of the breakfast meeting, a deal was struck — an extraordinary plea agreement that would conceal the full extent of Epstein’s crimes and the number of people involved.’

Trump slams special counsel after retweeting image of Rosenstein behind bars

American Presidents don’t typically obsess with jailing their political opponents. This is not normal.

‘It was no accident that President Trump Wednesday retweeted an image of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein locked up.

When asked during an interview with The Post: “Why do you think he belongs behind bars?” Trump responded: “He should have never picked a Special Counsel.”’

Investigators Raid Offices of President of U.S. Catholic Bishops

Thoughts and prayers.

‘Dozens of local and federal law enforcement officers conducted a surprise search of the offices of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston on Wednesday, looking for evidence in a clergy sexual abuse case that has ensnared the local archbishop, Cardinal Daniel N. DiNardo, who also serves as president of the United States Catholic bishops’ conference.’
